Legacy is defined as what is passed down from one generation to the next as ancestors pass on to descendants rights, privileges and remembrances of the past. In that same spirit and with that same objective, our past has great significance to our present day lives and should remain so in the future. We stand on the shoulders of those who went before us. The legacy most meaningful to Minnesotans is the one that has preserved our rights, freedoms and very way of life over the generations. It is for those reasons that honor and recognition of Minnesota recipients of our Nation’s highest military award should be known and tangibly recognized and honored as an important part of our common legacy.
